I have just finished looking through the video footage I shot whilst on the Orion's trip down to the Sub Antarctic Islands and put this little sequence together. I used a Canon 7D and 5D Mk2 with my various lenses but mostly the 16-35 and the 300f2.8. |

I recently went down to the Sub Antarctic Islands, in this case Enderby Island, part of the Auckland Island group. Being a long way south the weather was likely to be very poor so I took along one of Kata's range of camera capes to try out... |

The new Ricoh GXR has the image sensor built in to the lens not the camera body - a revolutionary concept. We should have a detailed look at this camera in the next issue. |

I've had Adobe Lightroom since it came out and have been a regular LR user since it became useful in version 2. Now Adobe has followed its usual strategy of releasing a new version as a free beta which will expire when the final release version comes out next year. In the meantime we can all play with the new version and comment on the Adobe forums. Visit http://labs.adobe.com/downloads where you can get the new version.  Photographers are becoming targets for paranoia from the authorities and, more scarily, the public. This British campaign aims to raise awareness that it's not a crime to be out in public with a camera. www.not-a-crime.com Have a look and maybe send them a picture to show solidarity. |

Well, I just got back from 9 days in Indonesia on my Orion cruise to the Spice Islands of Molucca and Nusa Tenggara. The very 5-Star MV Orion is an awesome way to see these very remote destinations. It was a great place to photograph people, everyone was happy to be photographed and the locals actually took more pics of us on their mobile phones that we did of them! |

I'm just getting packed for a new trip; I'm off to the eastern Indonesian islands between Darwin and Bali, including Komodo, to shoot images for the cruise company and to test the Panasonic GH1, plus some other gear. |
