Whilst I'm in Perth for a workshop I will also be speaking at the Visible Light conference on Feb 6-7 and presenting two seminars on Monday Feb 8 in conjunction with Iconic Images International.

Places are still available at this afternoon series of 4 talks, two by myself and two by Iconic Images principal and all round legendary photography, Nick Melidonis. Here's the press release:
Iconic Images International Seminar
Iconic Images International SeminarThis seminar, presented by Iconic Images International, features two of Australia's top photographers and image creation exponents, Nick Rains & Nick Melidonis.
Nick Rains upholds the defining tradition of excellence at Australian Geographic, to showcase details of living interest beautifully illustrated by photographs.
Nick Melidonis loves to see the spark of inspiration in his students' eyes.
It is always a privilege to witness the ability of fine photographers, recognised as masters of their craft, who share a passion for fine art education, and who use the very latest image making software.
Iconic Images International invite you to spend an afternoon at Notre Dame University Australia (NDA), in the NDA Santa Maria Lecture Theatre, Foley Hall, Mouat Street, Fremantle, on Monday 8th February 2101.
Registration commences at 1.00pm and the seminar will conclude around 4.30pm.
Seminar Content
Seminar Content Nick Rains will provide step-by-step information on:
• His privately developed techniques for maximizing the use of digital data in RAW captures before taking images into Photoshop or other image making software.
• Up-sizing in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) combined with in-camera image capture sharpening.
• Using Lightroom to create split toned colour images.
• Edge masks sharpening for optimum print output.
• Seamless blending of multiple exposures using Smart Objects.
• His personal workflow in configuring Photoshop to take full advantage of your creative process.
Nick Melidonis will also provide step-by-step information to encourage you to look, explore, create, take risks and listen to what inspires you. His session will:
• Take you through his most recently developed workflow for producing high quality image files. This workflow was used and refined during his 2009 assignment for Singapore Airlines. The workflow does not use Photoshop enhancement, yet produces high quality images ready for publishing and printing.
• The avant-garde treatment, used by professional commercial and fine art photographers, to produce the ‘High Detail Illustrative Look'; this ‘signature' look is in vogue with photography competition judges nationally and internationally.
• Demonstrate the award winning NIK software programs, Colour Effex Pro 3 filters, Silver Effex Pro, the all-new Viveza 2, Define 2 and Sharpener Pro.
The most recent advances to the NIK suite of software programs are so powerful that they are being used by distinguished photographers, here and overseas, as an alternative to Photoshop. You will be amazed at their ease of use and ability to create award winning and fine art images.
